Arundel Standard Distance Triathlon

3 members of Wight Tri took part in the Arundel Standard Distance Triathlon with a one way river swim in the second fastest flowing river in the UK, followed by a tough and undulating 40km cycle with a tough 2 lap 10km run to finish. As this was also an age group world championships qualifier, the field was loaded with very fast GB age group triathletes..
Congratulation to the first member of Wight Tri and IW Talented Athlete Award member, Daron Perkins, who finished in a very fast time of 2:09:03 to take 3rd in the Vet 50-54 category and also secure a place in the GB Age Group Team at the World Championships in Rotterdam in September 2017. He now joins fellow club triathletes, Stuart Dyer and Liz Dunlop who have also achieved qualification.

Glynn Jenkins had a super race to finish 10th in the Vet 60-64 category in 2:40:16, but will need to wait to see if this time and position will also secure him a roll down place to the championships.

Huge congratulations to Steve Parish, who completed his first ever standard Distance Triathlon to finish in 2:58:27 and 40th in the Vet 50-64 category to beat his target of 3 hours..
