Duathlon

We run a winter series of duathlons – run/bike/run races.

Events around the Island between October and April. The normal format is a run (sometimes road, sometimes off-road) of between 3km and 6km followed by a bike (always road) of between 12km and 30km and then a run again.

All routes are signposted and marshalled where possible.

The events are nominated time events, meaning you estimate your total time for the race and the nearest to their predicted time wins.

Open to all

The events are open to all.  Non Wight Tri members will need to pay £20 to enter their first event then £5 for each race thereafter. The initial fee includes membership, which in turn means subsequent races will be at normal cost of £5 per race.

Essentially, you do not have to be a member before you attend a race, but your first event, although a higher cost, will make you a member.

Non Members – £20 (your first race only, includes member sign up**)
Members – £5 per race

Just to wrap up any confusion because of high insurance costs for these small club events we require entrants to be members. Annual membership costs **£15 per year, this can be paid on the day at the duathlon and a simple membership form completed. Being a member of Wight Tri does not effect any other club memberships (running/cycling/swimming) and allows members to compete in Wight Tri events throughout the year.

Series Points

Points are awarded and the member with the best (lowest) score in the their four best races is the series winner, collecting the trophy at the Annual Awards dinner.

As well as being great fun, our duathlon events are excellent training sessions, getting competitors used to a race environment and the all important transitions skills of bike to run!
