Strawberry ‘Pain’ Duathlon Latest News Winter Duathlon by Craig - March 5, 2020March 17, 20200 24 members took part in the Strawberry ‘Pain’ Duathlon, the 5th of the Wight Tri Winter Duathlon Series, with the commemorative plaques again being sponsored by CutLaserCut. The competitors had the choice of a short or long trail run of 2.4 or 3.6 miles through Brighstone Forest and over Mottistone Down. The bike course was 1, 2 or 3 laps of a 5.9 mile loop, which took the competitors from the transition area at Jubilee car park along the middle road to the Chessell Pottery turn off, then back via Brook and Brighstone to finish with the hard climb up Strawberry Lane. First to finish in the nominated event was Super veteran Bill French, who completed the short run and 2 lap bike course in 2 hrs 11 mins 24 secs, 1:11:24 outside his nominated time. Roy Young was 2nd with 1:45 outside his nominated time of 1:40:00 for the same course. 3rd was Paul Martin, 2:53 inside his nominated time. Paul completed the long run and 3 lap course in 2:15:07. Sean Williams was the fastest Male to finish in 2:03:33 for the long run and bike course, but had a great battle with fellow club mate Craig Wilson, who despite posting a faster 2nd run time, could not catch Sean at the end. Nina French was the fastest female overall, posting 1:54:43 for the long run and 2 lap bike course. Wight Tri would like to thank Joe Norman and all the marshalls and timekeepers for the superb organisation of this event and also to CutLaserCut for their continued support in providing the momentos for the Duathlon series.
